What we know so far: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

What we know so far is a feature that looks at all existing knowledge on an unreleased game. This week we're looking at Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.

"Shurrrryukin!"
"Let's go bub!"

Both distinctive sounds of two distinctive universes. Yet, on June 29th, 2000; the little Sega system that could found itself a true gem. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 introduced players to a world of flashy combos, solid fighting mechanics, and Superheros...lots of Superheroes!

Nine years later and Capcom is set to release one of it's most fan revered games onto the PS3 and Xbox 360. Many are wondering what we know so far about the new edition of this beloved classic.

First off, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will have Online play. So there is no need to have friends. No wait, no advocating anti-social tendencies on this blog...uhh...you don't need a friend on the couch. Much better. The game supports the same online code as Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (Say that ten times fast without an epileptic seizure). So Rankings, Leaderboards, all the organization of an online game, is there.

All 56 characters are unlocked from the get-go. Yes, it makes the game less of a challenge, but still, who's complaining that they have all 56 characters from the moment the game's booted up.

The game comes with visual filters to help the game look amazing on hi-definition TV's.

Gameplay is unchanged. So extreme MvsC2 enthusiasts can't complain if they start to perform very poorly. Source code was taken from the Dreamcast version so in terms of performance and presentation this is the definitive version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 releases on XBLA and PSN for 1,200 Microsoft points/$15 on June 29th (The Nine year anniversary of Marvel vs. Capcom 2)
